WWII History Visits Birmingham

My son, Sean, and I drove down to Shelby County Airport yesterday to see the WWII B-17 Flying Fortress called Liberty Belle, and the P-40 Warhawk fighter plane that were visiting for the day. I’ve always liked the B-17 especially, growing up reading books about the daring crews who served on them. Not the first time I’ve seen a B-17 in person, but it’s always a thrill. First P-40 I’ve seen fly in person, so that was exciting. Also got to see a WWII B-17 bombardier there visiting and watched as he signed his name on the fuselage door. Here are a few photos from the visit.
